A few days ago, I was nominated by the lovely Kayla at The Thousand Lives, for the Liebster Award! I just want to say a huge THANK YOU for this lovely nomination ^.^ And everyone should jump over to her blog, because it is awesome.
There are a bunch of rules that come along with accepting this award, and if you readers know anything about me, you know I always break my blog award rules. The main reason being I have no idea who accepts awards, and who doesn’t, and it’s pretty time consuming to find this out. So, I usually just nominate ALL THE BLOGS for such awards, because every blog I follow is made of awesome (otherwise I wouldn’t be following, obviously!).
I am going to answer the awesome looking questions, so read on if you want to find out more about what is in this blonde and purple head of mine!
1. How long did it take you to settle in to your blog (how you wanted to write, how you wanted to lay out your posts, what sort of graphics you wanted to use, what theme to use, etc.)?
Hmm, I’d probably say it took me about two weeks to a month to really settle in. I was at a loss as to how many posts I should publish per day/week, and how to actually work the whole WordPress thing. But then after about a month or so, I changed my theme to it’s current one, and then about a week ago, I made some headers and a button! So you could say it has taken me about 10 weeks to really settle down and have everything sorted out.
2. How long have you been blogging, and what made you start blogging?
I have been blogging since the 3rd of June 2013, and yet it feels like I have been blogging forever. I haven’t even been blogging for three months yet! That feels so unreal.
What made me start blogging? Well, I’ve been an avid reader since infancy, and I followed Pretty Books on Tumblr, and read her reviews. I then discovered Goodreads, and found out how amazing it is. A few months later, I decided I would try my hand at writing reviews. At first, I only posted them on Goodreads, and my Tumblr. Then I realised that there were better platforms for becoming a book blogger, and Stacey (Pretty Books) suggested WordPress. And voila! Here I am :D
3. Give me a profile of yourself (age, location, job, school, some favorites, etc)?
Hi. I’m Chiara, two decades old. I live in Australia, and I am currently studying Marine and Wildlife Biology at university. I have dreamed of becoming an author practically my whole life, and am currently working on my umpteenth novel (I am about 40 000 words in, and I actually hope to finish this one – give me encouragement!). Most of my favourites can be find in my ‘About’ section. I fall in love with far too many fictional characters, and male celebrities. Sometimes, I wish I could spirit myself away into whatever world I am currently reading about, or watching. I’m a book hoarder, and I have far too many DVDs. I have a tad obsession with Paris, and the Eiffel Tower, and that’s about all I can think of at the moment.
4. What was your best memory in high school?
There’s such a things as ‘best memory’ and ‘high school’ in the same sentence? I kid, I kid. The best moment was the last moment. And I don’t mean that in a sadistic way! The last thing we ever do at my high school is attend the formal/prom. So the formal was coming to a close, and only me and my closest friends were left in the room. We huddled together, and ‘Forever Young’ started playing on the speakers. It was a pretty awesome moment.
5. Who inspires you, and why?
A lot of people inspire me, but my Mum inspires me the most. She is the strongest, and most amazing woman you could ever meet.
6. What are your three favourite books?
NOT JUST THREE. WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME, KAYLA?
1) Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
2) Skinned by Robin Wasserman
3) There are about three novels tied at three: Ignite by Erica Crouch, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin, and Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty!
7. What book has influenced you the most in your life?
Hmmm. I think it would have to be Wildwood because it has been my firm favourite for so many years, and the story of how I came to read it is so awesome, and it has brought me and other people closer, and yeah. It’s really special to me.
8. Which character would be your best friend, if they were in the flesh?
I think that I would get along really well with Sam from Supernatural. I cheat by using a TV character, but it’s true. We are so similar, it is actually crazy, and if I had magical powers to somehow make him a living person, I would use them; pronto!
9. What is your favourite book to movie adaptation?
I am assuming it means movie adaptation of a book I have read. Now, let me think about this…..
Memoirs of a Geisha is the best book to film adaptation that I can think of. This film is hands down one of my favourites. And the book was also brilliant (but not as good as the movie, in my humble opinion).
10. If you could say one thing to your favourite author, what would it be and who would it be to?
Well, my favourite author is Juliet Marillier – and I am actually getting the chance to meet her next year! I cannot begin to tell you how exciting that is.
I really have no idea what I will say to her when I finally get to meet her. Probably something along the lines of: “Thank you so much for bringing that book into existence, and for writing that story. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have this book in my life”. But knowing me, I’ll probably get out about two words before fainting.
Again, a huge thank you to Kayla! And an apology for being a rebel blogger.
